This outlines the Setup of Equipment & Wiring of the oVirt 4.2.x Install HE (Hosted Engine) (4 Hosts) (2 SAN-HA)
This outline is specific to the hardware mentioned at the beginning of the example, but it should apply to most installs with some adjustment.
- On your switch, label the following:
- outline a group of 5 ports for VLAN1
- outline a group of 5 posts for vLAN2
- remaining ports will be considered the LAN
- On each of the 4 host servers, connect cat6 cables as:looking at back of server hardwarePORT2 | PORT4
——————–
PORT1 | PORT3- PORT 1 to LAN on Switch
- PORT 2 to LAN on Switch
- PORT 3 to VLAN1 on Switch
- PORT 4 to vLAN2 on Switch
- MGMT PORT to LAN on Switch
- On each of the 2 SAN devices, connect cat6 cables as
- PORT 1 to LAN on Switch
- PORT 2 to VLAN1 on Switch
- PORT 3 to VLAN2 on Switch
- PORT4 to other SAN device as heartbeat connection for HA
Configure Switch
Connect to your smart switch a configure the following:
- Setup VLAN1 as using VLAN ID 2
- Setup VLAN2 as using VLAN ID 3
- Edit your ports and make sure Jumbo Frames are enabled on all of your VLAN1 and VLAN2 ports. (Some switches do this automatically)
- Save your changes to flash if required (Some Switches)
